Fans of Kevin McGarry may have just gotten the first breadcrumb about an upcoming project — even if the actor himself is staying quiet about it.
While speaking with Suspenders Unbuttoned and the McGarries during the Hallmark Christmas Experience in Kansas City, McGarry shared that he had just wrapped filming a project he couldn’t yet discuss. The only detail he offered was that it would likely release in fall 2026 — a timeline that would certainly fit a Halloween-themed project.
At the time, though, fans still had no idea where the project had filmed.
That changed after a recent episode of the Heart in Motion Podcast connected another piece of the puzzle.
Last week, during an interview on the Heart in Motion Podcast for Hope Valley: 1874, actor Lachlan Quarmby was asked whether Kevin McGarry — who plays Mountie Nathan Grant on When Calls the Heart — had offered him any advice about taking on a Mountie role.
The question came up because Quarmby and McGarry had previously done press together for Hope Valley: 1874.
But Quarmby’s response unexpectedly narrowed the search.
He revealed that he was actually working on the same project as McGarry in Ottawa when he found out he had landed the role in Hope Valley: 1874.
From there, the timeline starts to narrow considerably.
According to the Ottawa production listings, the only movie filming during the stretch after McGarry stepped away from the Hallmark Christmas Cruise but before he appeared in Kansas City — and which has not already publicly identified its leads — was The Halloween Carol.
The film reportedly shot from November 24 through December 12, 2025, wrapping production the very same day McGarry needed to be in Kansas City for the Hallmark Christmas Experience.
That timeline also overlaps with a social media post from Meghan Ory, who shared on November 28 via Instagram and the Union Conventions Facebook page that she would no longer attend the “From Storybrooke to Paris 2” convention in Paris for Once Upon a Time because she was “grateful to be working on a new project — 🤫” and could not find a flight that would allow her to do both the convention and the project.
At this point, there has been no official confirmation connecting McGarry, Quarmby, or Ory to The Halloween Carol. The theory is based entirely on overlapping timelines, filming locations, and comments shared during interviews.
Still, the pieces are beginning to line up in a way fans can’t help noticing.
If the speculation turns out to be accurate, the project could mark a very different kind of seasonal release for McGarry — and potentially an unexpected collaboration that fans were not anticipating.
What is confirmed is that Lachlan Quarmby and Kevin McGarry shared time on the same Ottawa project — and that alone is enough to make this one worth watching closely.
